ARC: The Primrose Murder Society by Stacy Hackney

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to read an advance copy of The Primrose Murder Society by Stacy Hackney. I was given access to the audiobook version and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. The book was a cozy and engaging mystery, the kind that makes you want to curl up and dive in. I loved the close knit feel of all the characters, with everyone having their own stories and secrets. The plot stayed lively without feeling overwhelming, and the steady pace allowed me time to settle into the story and really get to know the characters. I also really enjoyed the narrator. They did a fantastic job.

The premise for this story is what really drew me in. The story centers on a small-town murder that brings together an unlikely group of locals who soon form the Primrose Murder Society to dig into what really happened.

The side characters were one of my favorite parts of this book. They added so much personality and warmth to the story, making the town feel more real, instead of just a backdrop for the crime. The interactions that characters had added humor and heart to the investigation, which balanced the mystery nicely.

I only had a few things that I did not enjoy. I didn't love Lila’s parenting style, it sometimes felt a little too laid-back given the seriousness of what was happening around them. Also Bea's involvement in the investigation felt out of place as well and it sometimes took me out of the story. While her determination is part of her charm and appeal, there were a few moments that felt like a bit much for the circumstances.

In conclusion, this was a solid 3.5-star read for me. It delivered on the charm, it had an engaging mystery, and there were characters I’d be happy to revisit again in the future.

Thank you, NetGalley and HarperAudio/William Morrow, for sharing an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for my honest review.
